SEE - The Little Mermaid Statue: Situated at Langelinje Pier, one of the most central parts of Copenhagen Harbour, is The Little Mermaid statue. One of Copenhagen’s most famous attractions! 

The Little Mermaid statue made of granite and bronze is now over 100 years old. The statue was inspired by the The Little Mermaid fairy tale written by Hans Christian Andersen. Hans Christian Andersen is a famous writer from Denmark that wrote classic, world famous fairy tales. As well as The Little Mermaid, his other famous works include, The Ugly Duckling and the Princess and the Pea. The Little Mermaid is also famous for its’ Disney adaptation.

The statue was gifted to the city by Carl Jacobsen, who fell in love with the tale of The Little Mermaid after watching the ballet story at the Royal Danish Theatre in Copenhagen. Still captivating visitors from around the world, the statue depicts The Little Mermaid, perched on a rock waiting longingly by the shore for her beloved prince. Why not witness the magic for yourself and pay her a visit too!?

DO – experience a ride at Tivoli Gardens: Tivoli Gardens is an amusement park like no other! It has become some what of a national treasure in Denmark and no wonder as it was founded in 1843! It is the second oldest operating amusement park in the world!

The park is so magical that it is said in addition to Hans Christian Andersen visiting the park many times, Walt Disney also visited, finding the place an inspiration to build his world-famous, Disney theme parks.

One of the most famous rides is the wooden roller coaster that was built in 1914! Why not try it for yourself!

EAT – a Danish pastry: Danish pastries are unsurprisingly a specialty of Danish cuisine! Made of layered puff pastry to create a multi layered texture within the pastry, you can find these pastries stuffed with all kinds of exciting sweets such as chocolate, glace icing, nuts, jam, preserve or custard.

Copenhagen is dotted with fresh bread and pastry shops all over the city so you will not find it hard to source these delicious pastries in abundance! Try them for breakfast or as a snack with a hot drink to warm you up after exploring the city.
