Pressure Vessels Design, Construction, Inspection and Maintenance under ASME VII

Pressure vessels are critical components in oil & gas, petrochemical, power generation, and process industries. Their safe and reliable design requires a strong understanding of the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code (BPVC), engineering fundamentals, fabrication practices, and inspection requirements.

This intensive course provides a practical and comprehensive understanding of pressure vessel design, construction, inspection, testing, and certification in accordance with ASME Section VIII, Division 1, with an overview of Division 2 and related international standards.

Participants will gain both theoretical knowledge and hands-on insight into code calculations, fabrication requirements, welding rules, non-destructive examination (NDE), and compliance documentation. Real-world case studies and worked examples will reinforce understanding and bridge the gap between design theory and field application.

Course Objectives

By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

• Understand the structure and requirements of ASME Section VIII, Division 1.
• Identify responsibilities of manufacturers, inspectors, and Authorized Inspectors (AI).
• Select appropriate materials in accordance with ASME and ASTM specifications.
• Perform pressure design calculations for shells, heads, and closures.
• Design and evaluate nozzles, openings, and reinforcement requirements.
• Understand flange selection, bolting, and gasket considerations.
• Interpret welding requirements, joint categories, and qualification procedures.
• Apply inspection, NDE, and pressure testing requirements per code.
• Understand fatigue, brittle fracture, and special service considerations.
• Navigate documentation, certification, and U-stamp requirements.
