Learning in lockdown – how we’ve evolved

It’s hard to believe that the world has now spent over a year in some form of lockdown measures due to the global pandemic.

With restrictions on overseas travel in place, our team knew that to continue to serve the high-quality in-person training courses to our delegates, we needed to pivot the strategy of our face-to-face courses and deliver our training and coaching online.

London Training For Excellence is renowned for our prestigious training courses, delivered by world-class trainers — all who hold impressive credentials— in some of the most beautiful cities across the globe.  And, as travel restrictions ease, we are already incredibly excited at the prospect of welcoming back delegates in person.

Developing our online delivery method

We felt lucky that we already had the technical infrastructure in place to provide online training to our clients and knew that our training translated well from an in-person environment to an online style of learning.

We also understood that a strategic approach was needed to ensure that each lecture and  every element of our course was as interactive, enjoyable and engaging as possible to stand us head and shoulders above the many ‘me too’ online courses that were springing up as a result of the lockdown.

Many of our clients were also getting used to the ‘working from home’ lifestyle and spending hours on video calls — and we didn’t want ‘Online Meeting Fatigue’ to become an obstacle to remote learning.

As a result, we developed a programme of online courses that were still delivered live, but remotely, in a classroom-style setting.  What we chose to avoid was ‘Death By PowerPoint’ and a bank of downloadable PDFs that delegates might find confusing and inefficient.

Instead, we continued to work closely with a team of incredible trainers who provided the flexibility to deliver their content remotely in an engaging manner. Our many expert lecturers include Ward Atkinson, who has held senior learning and development roles with Marie Curie, BBC Worldwide and Channel 4, and Dr Osman Khan, whose credentials include consulting roles with Fortune 500 and FTSE 50 listed organisations.

Support beyond the online course duration

It was also important to us that our training courses delivered a connection to the wider learning community and access to important learning resources and support long after the course has ended.

Continuous learning is key to ensuring our delegates can effectively put their learning to use in the workplace. After completing an online course, we provide post-course support to answer any questions that may arise.

We understand that the last twelve months have been exceptionally challenging and unprecedented for our clients, team and trainers. As a community, we’ve felt the impact of the pandemic on a personal, human level and have strived to adapt on a professional level to ensure that we continue to offer a 360-degree training experience, albeit in a virtual classroom setting.

If you’d like to extend your learning we have over 300 online training courses across sectors including business resilience, IT, management and sales, engineering and logistics and finance and legal.
