Functional Description and Settings of the Turbine Governor

This course gives participants a comprehensive understanding of turbine governors' functional descriptions and settings. It focuses on the principles of operation, control systems, and operator responsibilities to ensure safe and reliable turbine operation. The program also highlights troubleshooting techniques, alarm management, and data interpretation, which are essential for effective turbine unit management. By developing a thorough knowledge of support systems and operational checks, participants will be equipped to maintain turbine performance and enhance the reliability of operations.

• To enable participants to properly analyze operating problems and take the necessary corrective action.
• To emphasise the operator’s responsibilities with regard to auxiliary systems, operational data taking and data evaluation. 
• To develop the skills of interpreting fault annunciation and how to determine if the annunciated fault can be remedied by operator action or by the assistance of instrumentation and/or maintenance personnel.
• To focus on the starting, loading and specific operator checks of the various turbine support and auxiliary systems.
