Importantly, as advanced technologies become more and more prevalent, the efficiency of lubricants and, thus equipment also becomes critical.
The essential function of any lubricant creates a physical interface between moving parts to provide a frictionless or, more practically, a reduction in friction between moving parts of the equipment in question—a typical example being automotive valves.
In addition, to providing a reduction in friction, lubricants also act in several other ways, namely: to prevent or mitigate wear of moving parts, wear prevention and/or wear, as a cooling medium and to minimise the effects of internal corrosion and cyclic fatigue.
