Course Overview

The threats and hazards associated with operational oil and gas assets, whether at onshore or offshore locations may pose serious consequences in the event of any asset failure which may impact human life, the environment and business reputation in addition to the cost of intervention and repairs, loss of revenue.

Such health and safety risks will always exist; the main priority is preventing major incidents that could result in multiple fatalities or injuries, or loss of infrastructure critical to a nation’s economy. In many parts of the world, many operational assets are working well beyond their intended design life and therefore the associated impact on HSE needs becomes even more critical.

The application of an HSEQ management system is an integral part of oil and gas assets from the design through to the final decommissioning and abandonment phase. Similarly, HSEQ management is supported both by Operator’s own internal governance as well as legislative and regulatory requirements of each nation.

Objective:

This course will explain and illustrate the importance of why an HSEQ management system is needed by all Operator’s and Contractor’s alike as a means to ensure that all those involved with the planning design, construction, installation, operations, inspections and repairs of all oil and gas assets – it will examine some of the rules and regulations governing HSEQ requirements and provide case studies of where and why HSEQ is important.
