What is great leadership?
Have you ever wondered what makes a great leader? What are the characteristics of a great leader?
Taking the time to reflect on what great leadership is, is important. If you are a new leader wanting to kick start your journey or an experienced leader wanting to review your role, taking time to reflect is an essential part of your leadership role and leadership journey!
There are many different perspectives and great leadership can mean different things to different people depending on where they are from and what experiences they have had.
At London TFE we have decided to ask some of our training professionals for their perspective of what great leadership is, to help share perspectives and to discuss some common themes of great leadership.
It is these common themes in great leadership, that can become great reference points for what great leaders should aspire to be.
To start off with let’s hear from Ian, one of our London TFE training professionals specialising in Sales and Management.
Ian believes that great leadership is:
1. Being trusted by your colleagues.
2. Being positive in the face of adversity.
3. Helping others to achieve their goals.
4. Being able to make tough decisions.
Ian’s definition of great leadership addresses points relating to teams and to leaders stepping up as being the head of a team during tough times. Ian’s answer is quite unique in addressing trust and positivity as great leadership traits and suggests the importance of emotion and personality in being a leader.
Next week we will gain some further insights into great leadership by contributing more perspectives from other trainers.
If you would like to share your perspective of what a great leader is please send your perspective to marketing@londontfe.com, London TFE would be delighted to hear from you.
