Day 1 — Foundations of Coaching and Mentoring

Coaching vs mentoring: purpose, benefits, and when to use each approach
Contracting essentials: objectives, roles, boundaries, and expectations
Trust, psychological safety, and ethical considerations in development work
Core communication skills: active listening, powerful questions, and presence

Day 2 — Goal Setting and Conversation Structure

Translating strategic priorities into meaningful coaching goals and measures
Structuring conversations to move from insight to action and accountability
Identifying motivators, strengths, and obstacles to change and progress
Planning actions, milestones, and support between sessions

Day 3 — Feedback and Behaviour Change

Crafting clear feedback and feedforward that prompts ownership and growth
Handling defensiveness and difficult emotions with empathy and firmness
Recognising patterns and assumptions that limit performance and learning
Designing commitments, check-ins, and follow-through

Day 4 — Mentoring for Capability and Career

Mapping capability needs, learning pathways, and mentoring objectives
Matching mentors and mentees; expectations, boundaries, and cadence
Knowledge transfer and sponsorship to accelerate development
Recording outcomes and maintaining momentum across the relationship

Day 5 — Embedding Coaching Culture
