Overview ImageCourse Overview

Learning Objectives:

Crystallization is a separation process used in many industrial applications, such as pharmaceuticals and food industry (sugar and salt). Modelling this process involves the resolution of many equations’ systems related to mass, energy and population balance.  Consequently, crystallization process operation and equipment design is particularly critical and needs a deep understanding of thermodynamics and transport phenomena.

Objective:

In this programme you will:

  • Understand the basics of crystallization kinetics
  • Identify parameters involved in crystallization process
  • Understand how to optimize crystal quality
  • Read about different industrial crystallizers
  • Learn about the choice and design of crystallizers
  • Learn how to develop mass, energy and population balance
  • Learn about control methodologies used in crystallization
