Day 2: Polymer Properties for Extrusion

  • Overview of bulk material properties necessary for extrusion.
  • Melt flow properties and their impact on the extrusion process.
  • Thermal properties and their influence on polymer processing.
  • How polymer properties affect extrusion performance.

Day 3: Extruder Types and Hardware Components

  • Overview of different extruder types: single screw, multi-screw, disk, ram, and others.
  • Key components of extruder hardware: drive, thrust bearing, barrel and feed throat, feed hopper, screw, and die.
  • The role of heating and cooling in extrusion.
  • Functionality and design of extruder components.

  • Controllers used in extrusion systems.
